Title: Message from HK Dolphin Conservaton Society Post by Project Officer on May 29th, 2004, 8:27pm For members' information, the HK Hong Kong Dolphin Conservation Society will co-organize a project with AFCD to arouse public awareness in dolphin-watching code-of-conduct through a series of activities. Please find below extracted information for your interest. --------------------- To Protect our Cetaceans in Hong Kong Join Us as a Dolphin Conservation Ambassador ~Dolphin Conservation Ambassador Training Programme~ This training programme is co-organized by the Agriculture, Fisheries and Conservation Department (AFCD) and the Hong Kong Dolphin Conservation Society (HKDCS). It aims to train local tertiary students and members of the public to be Dolphin Conservation Ambassadors, who will help to promote the AFCD's code of conduct for dolphin watching among dolphin watching operators. In the Dolphin Conservation Month, the ambassadors will join local dolphin watching tours to help operators observe the code of conduct in order to minimize their disturbances to the dolphins. The ambassadors will also convey accurate information of the Chinese white dolphins to dolphin watchers on board. Entry Requirement Group A: Members of the public aged 18 or above Group B: Students from local tertiary institutes Training Programme Daybook 7 June Dolphin Conservation Ambassador Recruitment Briefing - 6:45 - 7:30pm Group B - Tertiary students - 7:30 - 8:15pm Group A - Public members - Venue: Theatre, Space Museum 14 June Deadline for application (date of postmark) 17 June Successful candidates notified For Group A: Public members - 19 June & 3 July Training and written exam: Morning Session 10:00am - 12:00pm Afternoon Session 1:00 - 3:00pm Venue:AFCD classroom (at Cheung Sha Wan Government Building) - 4 & 18 July Field study and assessment (half-day) Group B: Tertiary students - 26 June & 10 July Training and written exam: Morning Session 10:00am - 12:00pm Afternoon Session 1:00 - 3:00pm Venue: AFCD classroom (at Cheung Sha Wan Government Building) - 11 & 25 July Field study and assessment (half-day) August Dolphin Conservation Month September Preparation of exhibition by tertiary students October - December Roving Exhibition on Dolphin Conservation Application Application form will be distributed at the recruitment briefing.
