Shirley,

Tell me what your set-up is, ie camera body, lens, tripod etc, and will take it from there ... ::)

But basically you'd prefer high speed film or ISO setting ( as in DSLR), lens with f/5.6 or faster and a 400mm focal length lens would be ideal. And yes, technique ... precise panning with the subject is particularly important!
