*THE WATERBIRD SOCIETY will hold a special meeting in the city of Tainan, Taiwan 24-27 Nov 2005.

The theme of the meeting will be Avian Disease and the Migration of Birds. Recent outbreaks of avian influenza in Asia, Europe and North America sparked concern about the transmission between birds and humans.

The Waterbird Society will sponsor symposia on avian diseases and bird migration focusing on Asia to understand the evidence for transmission between wild and domestic birds.

There will also be symposia on the biology of the black-faced spoonbill, conservation of long-legged wading birds, shorebird migration, and workshops on regional conservation. This meeting promises to be an exciting event with legendary Taiwanese hospitality and a full program of international scientists.
