The pair is seen today and the male is always chasing the female.

However some kind of construction is going on along the area where the pair was seen. Not sure if the pair will stay any longer.  :-/

The pair of Redstarts are still seen today. (11-1-2003)
Each of the pair seemed to frequent their own holes on the wall of the drain, and they were both very restless.

Hi Koel

Did you see the Redstarts at Wun Yiu on 11th Jan?

I tried on Weds 8th and could not find them although there were many other birds including:

2 x Red-throated Flycatcher
Verditer
Brown Flycatcher
Bluetail (many)
Yellow-browed Warbler
Dusky Warbler

all in the stream bed.

I really want to see these birds So I hope you can confirm their location for me, or tell me if they are in another place

Many thanks

Mike

Dear Mike,
When you enter the vicinity of Wunyiu you can see the wide funny 'staired' streambed on the left. The female was spotted there flycatching. On the other side of the road, there is a waterway leading downstream. The brilliant male was around the darker corner of the sewer, always peeping out from a hole in the wall and descending to perch for brief moments on the bank beneath. You can find a convenient vantage point at where an avenue joins the main road on the right when you just enter the village.
Also, peculiarly, I have seen White-eyes, Bulbuls, Yellow-browed Warblers and flycatchers flycatching around there. It was spectacular.
Good luck for your birding!

Thanks Koel!

I saw female  on Wednesday morning, butcould not find the male. Never mind.  This area hasgreat diversity for a tiny place - I found over twenty species in less than 30 minutes.

Thank you for your up to date information.

Mike
