I took about 60 pictures and the result is still bad. I shall probably try again coming Sunday. Bernard. |

Title: Re: Ferruginous Flycatcher ¬õ½ÅöÈ Post by Daniel CK Chan on Apr 9th, 2003, 1:15am Hi Bernard, Understanding the difficulty in capture small birds in the dark environment. Let's try use higher ISO and off-shoe flash if you don't like the red eye effect. Hope that there will be sunshine this Sunday too. ;) Rgds Daniel |

Title: Re: Ferruginous Flycatcher ¬õ½ÅöÈ Post by BERNARD on Apr 9th, 2003, 1:40pm Hi Earlybird, I took 60 flash pictures in 2 1/2 hours, not 60 consecutive flash shots in a short time. Anyway it is still excessive and I admit I am a bit too selfish this time . I have never taken so many shots on the same bird before, whether it is with flash or not. Most of my past birds' photos from Tai Po Kau are of poor quality and they are only good enough for records. Recently I see so many good photos from top photographers such as 648, Daniel etc that it motivates me to take so many pictures on the same bird. I like colourful song birds in Tai Po Kau but Tai Po Kau is almost always dark in most area. I like to prove what I see but it needs flash to take pictures. But flash may harm the birds. There is a big internal conflict in my mind. From now on I will concentrate on taking a very few good flash shots to minimise harm. I hope to see and photograph more colourful song birds in sunny open area such as Mai Po. Then I don't need much flash (maybe a few weak fill-in flash only). Pictures without flash are more natural anyway. There are lots of report on Narcissus and Mugimaki Flycatcher in Mai Po recently. So I will go there this weekend. Bernard. |
