It is rare to see such birds in Hong Kong Park. Or it may be I am not looking close enough. :( BTW, is the subject taken in the main pond? I guess it is attracted by the fishes there -- I saw a BCNH caught a gold fish a day before (June 4th).

Yes, this is a very rare record for Hong Kong Island and also for a publc park in Hong Kong.

The photo was taken in the small lotus pond next to the waterfall, there was also a moorhen grazing on the slope. I don't know about the CB, but The manager of the aviary told me he saw a moorhen almost every year.

This is the night heron which watch the fish closely. And it was less than twenty feet from me and stayed for more than 15 min!

The Yellow Bittern was still in HK Park yesterday (i.e. 8.6.2003).

CY, thanks for the update, will try to locate it when I got the chance. BTW, does it appear early in the morning or in the afternoon?

According to the record of my camera, I saw the Yellow Bittern at 12:16pm on 8.6.03.

The shot of a Night Heron with catch is great, I hope I can meet a NH with catch too.
