Title: Re: White-Breasted Waterhen 白胸苦惡鳥 (白胸秧雞) Post by Koren on Jan 6th, 2004, 2:42pm Hi Sam, I have heard that there are problems doing digiscoping with the Coolpix 5000 or 5700 beacuse of the zoom lens and the large lens diameter. Have you had any problems with this setup? I would appreciate advice because this is exactly the type of setup that I would like to get (Swarovski scope, Coolpix 5700 camera). Thanks, Koren |

Title: Re: White-Breasted Waterhen 白胸苦惡鳥 (白胸秧雞) Post by isaac_chan on Jan 6th, 2004, 3:55pm CP5000 should have no problem as you can use a stepdown adaptor, UR-E6. This brings the CP5000 to have the same ring diameter as CP995/4500. But CP5400 and CP5700 do have larger ring diameter and seems that there is no stepdown adaptor for these models. (Maybe 3rd party products out there...., or you may custom make one....) CP5000 should be easily to use as CP995/4500 with a digiscope. |

Title: Re: White-Breasted Waterhen 白胸苦惡鳥 (白胸秧雞) Post by Sam on Jan 6th, 2004, 9:38pm Hi Koren & Isaac, I agree with Isaac for last reply I forgot to state that a step down adaptor Nikon UR-E6 be use between Swarovski DCA & CP5000. attached herewith the setup photo http://www.geocities.com/cyberfai2004/CP5000_DCA.jpg http://www.hkbws.org.hk/fileServer/PhotoG/sam/sam003.jpg Isaac, I knew that you used CP5000 + telescope before what thing do I need to concentrate on using CP5000 for digicoping. Do I need the remote cord MC-EU1 ??? Thank Sam |

Title: Re: White-Breasted Waterhen 白胸苦惡鳥 (白胸秧雞) Post by isaac_chan on Jan 8th, 2004, 2:18pm I have MC-EU1, but I just bought it to shoot night scenaries. And the telescope I used before is a mini telescope, the objective is only 18mm! Combined focal length is about 500mm in 35mm format. At that time, I didn't use any tripod or shutter release to shoot, I just got it handheld. Soon later, I bought myself D100 to take bird photos. Not sure if you are using shutter release cable or not. Without it, you may try the self-timer mode to shoot if you want to stabilize the camera. I have seen reports about MC-EU1 that it will freeze up and not responding suddenly. So, I think you may better stay away from it, as no one want to miss any critical moments. In taiwan/Japan, digiscope users will prefer to modify a mechanical shutter release to use with DC. I think you may search info for it. |

Title: Re: White-Breasted Waterhen 白胸苦惡鳥 (白胸秧雞) Post by isaac_chan on Jan 9th, 2004, 9:28pm Seems CP5400 can also attach to digiscope easily. UR-E11, the step-down adaptor for 5400 to use with slide copy adaptor, can brings you 28mm ring diameter. So that you can attach CP5400 as the CP4500. But I don't have CP5400 and digiscope, I myself can't confirm this. But CP5400 users may try. :-/ |
