Title: Bonelli's Eagle 白腹山鵰 title revised Post by KK Hui on Jan 14th, 2004, 10:47am 083 Bonelli's Eagle 白腹山鵰 Mai Po Nature Reserve 米埔自然保護區 13/1/2004 EOS-10D, EF600/4L + EF1.4x Incident @ -1/3, ISO 200 http://www.hkbws.org.hk/fileServer/PhotoG/kkhui/kkhuiBonelliEagle3.jpg I think this is a Common Buzzard but the tail bar is not present. Perhaps it's just a plumage variation?! ::) Also this looks like an escaped bird to me since there was strap around its legs!!! KK Hui ARPS www.geocities.com/kkhui_001 |

Title: Re: Buzzard Post by Yat-tung YU on Jan 14th, 2004, 11:59am Dear KK, This is a juvenile Bonelli's Eagle. You can see that the underparts and underwing coverts are uniformly brown and all primary and secondary feathers, and undertail have many bars. Common Buzzard has prominent dark patch on carpal joint and would have paler underparts. Please note that the bird carries a 'belt' on legs. It is very likely that the bird is escaped. In Hong Kong, I think it is legal to keep any raptor without special permission from AFCD. Tung |
