Title: Re: Yellow-Legged Gull ??? Post by gjcarey on Nov 21st, 2002, 5:56pm They all appear not to be Yellow-legged Gulls. They are Heuglin's Gulls. The two nearer adults appear paler on the mantle than the rearmost because of the different angle they are standing with regard to the camera. Geoff |

Title: Re: Yellow-Legged Gull ??? Post by bfspoonbill on Nov 21st, 2002, 10:50pm Thanks for your time. Actually, I can only find the name Heuglin Gull in "A Field Guide to Birds of China" but not the usual book 香港及華南鳥類. I do not have experience in identifying gull. What is difference between Heuglin Gull and Yellow-legged Gull? I am still trying to understand the previous field mark suggestion reply. Oh! I saw them on 19/11/02 (Tue) on mudflat outside MaiPo boardwalk WWF hide. There are about 20 of them among the thousand Black-headed Gull and a few tens of Saunder's Gull. There are some more shots on tape. But sorry I have no time to capture them tonight. |
