Title: Re: Is this a Chestnut-tailed Starling 灰頭椋鳥? Post by Koel_Ko on Feb 27th, 2003, 4:48pm It is the Chestnut-tailed Starling. The yellow bill with blue base is charactristic. :D |

Title: Re: Is this a Chestnut-tailed Starling 灰頭椋鳥? Post by TH_Kwan on Mar 2nd, 2003, 5:38pm Please note that this species in Kowloon Park is the Sturnus Nemoricola instead of the Sturnus Malabaricus. The one illustrated in the Hong Kong & South China Birds page 4 is Sturnus Malabaricus. The one shown in the photograph was illustrated in plate 73 no. 5a in "A Field Guide to the Birds of South-East Asia" A noteworthy characteristic of this species is the narrow streak of chestnut color connecting the legs and the flanks, a feature beautifully illustrated in this photograph.
