Title: Re: Flycatcher (?) identification please Post by Gary on Apr 17th, 2004, 8:10pm I think it's a 1st year yellow-rumped flycather (not sure male or female) as you can see the white wing patch, buffy lore and whitish under-tail coverts. Gary |

Title: Re: Flycatcher (?) identification please Post by TUNG on Apr 17th, 2004, 9:12pm The Yellow-rumped Flycatcher have a yellow rump in all plumages. Although this bird is in higher position, some parts of rump is still visible! The white 'patch' on the wing seem to be just an inner web of a feather to me. That feather would just be turned over by wind, or the bird itself when preening. Also, please look at the eyering and pale lore (an area between the eye and bill). It gives hint what the identity of this bird is! Tung |
