106 Greater Painted-snipe 彩鷸

EOS-1D Mk II, EF500/4L + EF1.4II

This male painted-snipe was found very busy with hatching its eggs at Pond 16/17.
The temperature was already over 32C in that morning. As its nest & eggs were directly exposed to the sun, it had to stay in the nest to protect the eggs from being overheated by the overhead burning sun. When the nest was shadowed by the clouds floating across, it came out quickly for a break and taking a bath & drinking water to cool down its body temperature. It returned to the nest at once when the sun came out again.
