Clear Water Bay 清水灣
29/6/2004
EOS 10D, 400/5.6

Is this a white wagtail? 10-20 of them were seen today, while 2-3 have clear typical wagtails pluamges others are more or less like this.

i would think it is a juvenile White Wagtail. If it has no yellow or brown, a wagtail found in hong kong is usually White Wagtail; if the throat is yellowish it might be a white wagtail as well provided that the overall tone is greyish white. :)

Thanks Koel KO. I may go back when the weather is good to take a closer look!

It is hard to conceal myself from the birds in an open grassland.....

I was trying to take a couple (150?) of Golden Plovers one day on a meadow where they rear horses and cows. I could not lie flat on the ground due to the excrements. But I squatted so that I could get within 30 m and took photos of reasonable quality.....worth a try!

I checked again today during lunch, they looked like juvenile white wagtails as they stay with adult white wagtails and the beaks are still yellow.
