I lost too many inflight shoot with 600mm, even with this:

I can do much better with hand held :P 2 of shot was by 300/2.8+1.4X from a friend here. I think I still need a 500mm or 200-400VR / f4 later when I got $ :P as i also can't do much with 600mm on boat too :P

Your DIY adaptation of the Sidekick is interesting. Apart from weight and cost (assume an one-off production would not be economical!) savings, how good is it comparing to a full Wimberley Head with a 600/4?

You are really asking too much for a 600 to cover every situations. An AF-S 300/2.8 would do nicely in your case to bridge the gap so to speak ... ::)

It only slightly not as smooth as WB , KK . but I don't think if I use WB ( I have try before ) will do better than this. and I happery with it's size & weight over King Cobra.

I think I still need to sharpen my skill with 600mm , i know skill take times :)

In my personal experience, 10D + 500IS seems better for inflight shot than 10D + 600IS. So far I had only one-time field experience of 600 IS, I need more on field experience to verify my findings. Nonetheless, I need to train myself and improve the skill of using 600. Still, I am waiting for the official stock of 1D2... ::)
