Where are the rest? They were under parent's wing!! I found a parent 's wings can "acoomodate" 4 kids.

Believe it or not, I saw them again today at Pond 15A!
Á¿§A³£­ø«H¡A¤µ¤é¤S«Y15A ¨£¨ìÊ\¦a°Õ¡I

A group of senior citizens visiting Mai Po saw them too
(The guilds seems to be members of  Crested  Bulbul Club)
¤@¹Î°ÑÆ[¦Ì®HªºªøªÌÀ³¸Ó¤]¬Ý¨ì (±a¶¤ªº¦n¹³¬O¬õ¦Õóí­Ñ¼Ö³¡¦¨­û)

Moreover, I have located 8-10 juvenile little grebes (2 families) in Pond 15B !!

Your photos occupy 1/4 page of Ming Pao Daily ( A22 ) today. I am sure birders will flood into MP to look for this happy family on Sunday. This family has become the star of the month as Isaac said.

I run in a little grebe nest with an egg inside on last sunday.
§Ú¤W¬P´Á¤Ñ¬Ý¨ì¦³Áû³J¦b¤@­Ó¤p¹@³¾Ó¸³¾±_¤¤¡C    

There was no egg in the nest a few days before! Probably a new egg.
´X¤é«e¸ô¹LÁÙ¦³¬Ý¨£³J¡A¥i¯à·sªñ¤Uªº¡C

Relax! I only approached the nest when the parents and chicks are feeding far way. I took a few shots and left immediately.
©ñ¤ß¡I§Ú«Ý¿Ë³¾©M¥®³¾¨ì»·³B³V­¹¬O¤~¨«ªñ¡A©ç§¹¥ß§YÂ÷¶}¡C

A question for the experts. I observed 3 pairs of little grebe parents, each pair were leading and feeding 4-6 chicks on 8/31 and 9/1. When I checked back on 9/5, I found that each parent was only feeding one chick (4 parent little grebes were observed). So, where are the other chicks? All dead or they take turn to be fed?

Dominic,

After staying there for hours on 05/09/2004, I think each parent was feeding 1-2 little grebes in turns.
