Title: Painted Snipe 彩鷸 at Mai Po Post by Neil on Aug 4th, 2005, 3:26pm I've been watching the Painted Snipe at Mai Po for about a month now and was very pleased to see two familes with 3 young each last week. Here is one of the males with a few day old youngster. There were two others hiding in the grass nearby. Neil. http://www.hkbws.org.hk/fileServer/PhotoG/Neil/neil_01.jpg |

Title: Re: Painted Snipe at Mai Po 彩鷸 Post by Neil on Aug 7th, 2005, 5:47pm Andrew, I've been back twice in the last week to see them with no luck. The WWF staff have been cutting the grass on the main islands in the Main Scrape (#16, 17) and the snipe must have moved on , maybe down near Hide No. 1. There are a lot of waders arriving though so they are worth a worth a visit. With the heat it's better to be there either very early or stay until sunset. I will be there on Monday and Tuesday again looking for them.Neil. |
