It's a ªd²r³½,  the spines should bring tears to the eyes of both fish and bird !  Did the Night Heron really swallow it ?

A flock of 20, nearly all immature BCNHs flew over the harbour in YSW several times on Monday, briefly resting in a tree before moving on.
Would the reason for such a large group of immatures be because they have been sent off into the world by their parents (indvidually), and have banded together for the flight south?

BCNH tends to form groups in non-breeding seasons. For instance, over 400 birds were seen in a single group in Starling Inlet. They feed and roost together but it doesn't look likely that there is a leader in a group.

We still don't know the group structure of these groups, e.g. they came from the  same nesting colony or from diff. colonies? Whether they are family relatives? Why they form a wintering group?
