Title: Terek Sandpiper at Mai Po 翹嘴鷸 Post by Neil on Aug 23rd, 2005, 8:24pm I had a nice day at Mai Po yesterday on my own . Where is everyone? There were about 2000 plus birds in the main Scrape at high tide, mostly Greenshanks and Red-Necked Stints, but I was happy to see about 50 plus Terek Sandpipers and here is one of them. Title: Re: Whimbrel at Mai Po Post by Neil on Aug 24th, 2005, 10:37am Andrew, When I was going out to Mai Po During Mar/Apr/May during the week ( I don't go on weekends) there were always people out there then. In fact one day there were 10 people out in the Deep Bay Hide. I suspect that people don't like the hot weather and believe that there are no birds worth going to see until September. Neil. |

Title: Re: Whimbrel at Mai Po Post by Andrew on Aug 24th, 2005, 12:37pm Neil, you are probably right but I took annual leave during the migration season so that I could go to MP during the week and indeed the Boardwalk Hides were packed with photographers. If you can regularly go during the week you are very fortunate. All I can see frommy window here is LegCo :'( Andrew |
