I've been watching these little herons zip by me for 6 months and never been able to get satisfactory photos as my Auto Focus was not fast enough. I finally got lucky on Thursday. Neil.

Nikon D100 plus Nikon 80-400mm ED VR (hand held)
iso400,1/1000sec/f8 (manual exposure)

Some cropping for comp would make this one even better ... ;)

KK, Thanks. I was thinking of cropping out the water but I like the color. Would it work with just the green background? Neil.

I took the liberty to repost your image here hope you don't mind.  One option is to add some canvas to the right to get the 'norm' aspect ratio ...  ;D
