Title: Purple Heron
Post by Anguslau on Oct 29th, 2005, 12:25pm
Though these images are not as nice as kk's versions, and certainly not as close, I am quite pleased with the attractive settings and beautiful light of that afternoon. Great pleasure just being there and enjoying the show! :D

kk, as you know I do not shy on using high iso. ;D
I found that noise at iso800 very managable so long as I don't under-expose my images. I even tried iso1600 recently on early morning low light conditions. I was amazed at the low noise. Sure I can see the noise at 100% view, but they don't seem to be visible at 50% or lower magnifications and on prints. I now become more obsessed with higher shutter speeds and much more willing to trade off with high iso. ;D

It's good to see so many photos of a flying Purple Heron. :D

Is this bird particularly fond of flying before cameras? :P

There seems to be quite a few Purple Heron's around in MPNR lately. There were several of them resting and foraging around the pond. We waited for them to fly. But they refused to cooperate for the first three hours or so. We almost wanted to give up and pack for home. Suddenly all of them became very active and chasing each other furiously! There are always surprises, you never know what's going to happen! ;D
