Title: Re: Violet Whistling Thrush (Lamma Island) Post by Andrew on Jan 31st, 2006, 8:15pm Very nice indeed Guy. I can see that appearing on Naturescapes when the egrets are finished ;) I guess you were in a hide as the Blue Whistling Thrushes around here would fly a mile if I got that close with a 300mm lens! |

Title: Re: Violet Whistling Thrush (Lamma Island) Post by Andrew on Feb 4th, 2006, 8:22pm Are you sure this is the same Blue Whistling Thrush? The upper photos have a lot of brown in the wing which is not evident in the last bird. |

Yep, absolutely sure. The brown in the plumage in the earlier photos I presume is the effect of harsh reflected light........, whereas in the current photo there was no light to speak of, which is why shutter speed was down to 15 at F/4. Light today was very flat as well as being under canopy...... so no reflected light All the best & thanks for viewing |
