nice photos

am shocked to hear what those people are doing  :o >:( :'( ::)

hopefully members who are there be more discreet when photographing the owls so as to avoid attracting unnecessary passer-bys.

You say that you are "shocked to hear what those people are doing".

I would be interested to know who the people are and what they are doing, as I can't read Chinese. Is there a thing against owls in Chinese culture?

Unfortunately, it seems to me that it's hard to be discrete at the site, which is very close to the village.

Hi Dave,

its the complete opposite.

A fellow photog saw a villager holding a sling shot trying to shoot down the owls.

Upon asking, he said that its good for health when consume  ::)  :-/

yeah, kind of hard to be discreet. When i was there few days ago, people were staring at me when i was walking around the place with just my bino.

I know a few responsible bird watchers are aware of the owlet and and juveniles for some time already. They have been very careful and dare not to venture into or disclose the breeding site in order to avoid disturbance. Actually they stop visiting that area to protect the birds from prying eyes.  I think photographers and birders should pay particular attention when approaching breeding site and be aware of the possible disturbance.

i fully agree !

if the place was crowded with so many photogs with big 'cannons'.  It will only draw more attention to the villagers and makes them think that that 'bird' is very precious.

Would suggest fellow bird lovers to avoid the location after you hav got the photos you want   ;)
