Title: Re: Brown-Chested Flycatcher 白喉林鶲 Post by miket on Sep 18th, 2006, 7:48am Hi Thomas, I think this is an Asian Brown Flycatcher. The overall tone is not right for Brown-chested, which has a darker, more olive tone overall. Also, the wing-bar is not right for Brown-chested - it may perhaps show a faint one when fresh, I just don't know, but I don't think it'd ever be as well-marked as this. Finally, Brown-chested shows a white throat, and a bigger bill. Otherwise they are similar! For one picture of Brown-chested, look under Neil's posting "Unknown birds at Mai Po" posted about ten days ago on the Bird Identification thread. Lovely picture all the same - must get myself a proper camera - just can't get shots like this with my five-year old Coolpix! Mike Turnbull |
