Hun Chun Marsh Protection Station 琿春濕地保護站
Jilin, China 中國吉林

This marsh is located at the "tongue" shape strip of land stretching between North Korea and Russia. Standing at the tip of the border you are around 10+ km away from coast. This is just a provincial grade nature reserve with little funding and staff without any knowledge of wildlife and decent binoculars.

I am a bit surprised that there is no record of goosander (or common merganser) in Hong Kong. Am I right?

This merganser is known to winter in southern China. Acutaully even Scaly-sided merganser had been a vagrant as far south as Thailand!
