The black patch over neck should be the best field mark for this lark in such a unusually eastern location.

Why not an Eurasian Skylark since it has long bill?
有朋友來e-mail說覺得它像雲雀，因為它的嘴型不像百靈，至於圖中所見到的“頸側黑斑”，認為是下體的縱紋堆積所致。
他同時認為頸側黑斑是 Greater Short-toed Lark短趾百靈的特徵，但野外通常似乎不容易看到，鳥放鬆的時候黑斑就成一條線了，根本無法看到黑斑。
下麵這張圖是短趾百靈麼？

Just for discussion, do HKBWS need a system database on birds of China? Right now I am support Shenzhen to work on such a database on behave of China Ornithological Society.

Thanks Ptarmigan. I am really not so confident on the identification of this bird.

I saw this bird together with a Eurasian Skylark, which looks bigger than this one. This bird, even when it was alert, did not raise any crest like the skylark. Maybe it is a female skylark foraging with its mate. However most bird book says sexes are alike.

By the way, your link of the greater short-toed lark showed another beautiful fieldmark - long tertials covering all the primary.
