Good news...There will be a local Black-faced Spoonbill census to be carried out by citizens in Korea. Please find below message for members' information :).

Members please also note that the HKBWS Black-faced Spoonbill Research Group will announce the date of 2005 Black-faced Spoonbill International Census soon. Please contact the census coordinator Yu Yat Tung at bfspoonbill@hkbws.org.hk and hkbws@hkbws.org.hk if you wish to offer support.

Dear All of Black-faced Spoonbill Friends;

This is Sunyoung of KFEM. It has been long time to meet you on or off-line.

I am very happy to let you know 'Korean Black-faced Spoonbill Census 2004'.

KFEM have organized the first Black-faced Spoonbill Census in Korea upcoming this weekend(16-17th, Oct.) and next weekend(23-24th, Oct.) for two times. It will be simultaneously held at more 26 watching points for BFS along Korean Costal line from Kanghwa island to Jeju island. Particularly, this census will be carried out by citizens who love and want to conserve the BFS in Korea.

I believe all of you already has known the first Black-faced Spoonbill in this year has arrived at Chiku in Taiwan for wintering last on 28th, Sept. So we would like to monitor how many Black-faced Spoonbill has spreaded along the costal line of Korea in this migratory season. It also must be very attraction for public to conserve Black-faced Spoobill in Korea. We will share the monitoring results through KFEM web site in real time.

I will send you again the result of this sensus. And in addition, if you can monitor BFS in your country at the same time, please let me know for our reference.

I regret I couldn't inform you of our census more eariler. But I hope your sincere concern and information exchange for our lovely friend, Black-faced Spoonbill.
