Young swifts may do ¡§special push-ups¡¨ to shed their puppy fat and become aerodynamically perfect before their first flight, a new study suggests.

In common with infants of other species, swift nestlings are chubby ¡V their fat stores provide useful energy reserves that allow the birds to continue growing through any gaps in parental feeding.
