Really great find. When was the previous record? I wonder... Author: wgeoff Time: 28/05/2011 05:34
According to our records, the last one reported from Tai Mo Shan was 22 May 2005.
If anyone has photos of later records from Tai Mo Shan, please post them here as we would like to include them in the official record.
More recent reports from Tai Po Kau probably refer to escapes or releases.

Don't like to pour cold water on it, but if there is reason to believe there may have been recent releases in TPK, isn't it reasonable to consider that there is some probability of a captive origin explanation for one suddenly turning up like this at nearby TMS, rather than it being a naturally occurring individual, or that someone has finally clapped eyes on one again, and they were actually there all along?

Yes of course I don't exclude the possibility that this bird is also an escape.
But if anyone has recent photos from Tai Mo Shan, it would be interesting to see them.
(Later - examination of photos sent me by others shows this bird has feather damage to the wing and tail and is likely an escape)

Hi smp, your photos are great!
Would you mind giving more details on the location of the bird? Was it near the visitor center or near the pavilion close to the top? Author: smp Time: 29/05/2011 13:48
