The 1st Greater Flamingo chick to be hatched during the Summer Olympic Games 2008.

Today was it's 1st day out of the nest.

Full Frame, manual focus, lens equivalent to 5100mm

This cute chick has one potential predator, the parks only Peacock. Fortunately the flamingos group together to fend off the Peacock. I would like to see the peacock caged for a couple of weeks as there are more eggs that are likely to hatch over the next weeks. Although people will argue that this is an act of nature, the birds in the park are not in their normal environment and where ever should be protected.

I don't think it would try and eat it but it is worrying all the Flamingo's. The Flamingo's group together and scare the peacock away

其實九龍公園的夜鷺曾吃掉麻雀(我見MON姐影到), 夜鷺係先侵死麻雀, 再吞下

現時我在九龍公園找到5隻夜鷺(三隻成鳥兩隻幼鳥)

我亦曾見一隻夜鷺試捉錦鋰,但失敗(錦鋰好彩游得快 )..........

今次bb 係比錦鋰更易受攻擊 我怕怕有悲劇發生

Let me fine-tune this translation manually...  

In fact, the Night Heron(s) at Kowloon Park had taken Sparrow as their meal (sister Mon had it on picture), drowning it first before swallowing. At present, I have found 5 Night Herons in Kowloon Park (3 adults and 2 juveniles). I have also seen a Night Heron went after a Koi but failed (luckily the Koi swan fast...) The chicks are more vulnerable than Koi, I am worried something bad would happen...
