Orange-headed Thrush
Kap Lung Trail, 1/10/08
Canon 20D, 500mm 1:4, 1/60

One of an actively calling foraging pair. Breeding at Kap Lung, possibly?

Amazing!

This bird is nominated as National Day bird by Dr. Cheung's bird ringing team as it was trapped exclusively on national day in both year 2005 and 2006.
Its appearance on National Day is amazingly accurate which may indicate a migratory population stop-over HK at this week, if not day.
Just heard form hotline that a juv. Orange-headed Ground Thrush was seen in Tai Po Kau today. Probably one more piece of evidence for its migratory pattern.

Same amazing thing happened is 500mm in 1/4 shutter speed!!

Not only the photographer but also the bird didn't even move a little bit....

it's 500/4 @ F4.0 , the shutter speed is 1/80 and 1/50s by the exif files

Thank you for the comments and sorry for the typo. I'm a novice photographer and I had set the shutter speed at 1/60; but I meant to specify the 500mm 1:4 lens. nlinyau, can you tell me how to access the xsif file please?

I was also wondering how to minimise the background noise in low-light conditions - it probably isn't clear in the small photos, but the grains are apparent in the bigger original version. Do I have to use flash in this case or set the photo quality higher to avoid the noise? Any comments would be appreciated. ^^.
