Long Valley |

This is a patch of floodplain 0.25 sq km in area and is situated NW of Sheung Shui KCR station. The area comprises of agricultural wetland, with water spinach and watercress the dominant crops. There are also bloodworm and lotus ponds, and fruit trees surround the farms and ditches running through the fields, creating a variety of microhabitats. A total of 210 bird species have been recorded here. Besides bird watching it is also enjoyable to observe farmers weeding, ploughing and planting in their fields, and continuing the of the site¡¦s wet agriculture traditions.

Take KCR to Sheung Shui. Either take a taxi to Yin Kong Village, bus no. 76K or green minibus No. 50K and 51K by the KCR Sheung Shui station from Sheung Shui to Yuen Long. |
