Nearly two hundreds pairs of egrets and herons can survive and continue to breed in San TIn. 【Sustainable and wise use of wetland resources can be maintained】The traditional practices of freshwater fish culture, recognized as intangible cultural heritage, shall be respected. Fish farmers can continue operating fishponds in San Tin and pass on their knowledge. At the same time, sufficient feeding and roosting space can be provided for waterbirds, achieving the sustainable and wise use of wetland resources. 【Be responsible to International obligations】As an international city, Hong Kong has a responsibility to safeguard the globally important fishpond wetlands in order to fulfill the obligations under the Ramsar Convention and the Convention on Biological Diversity. 【National duties can be truly performed】Protecting the remaining intact coastal wetland system in the Greater Bay Area is the embodiment of the national development policies of "ecological civilization" and to give priority to environmental protection. 【The frontline defenses against wetland loss can be secured】The government should set a good example for the next generation, instead of undermining the environmental impact assessment system, and upholding wetland protection principles such as "precautionary approach" and "no-net-loss in wetlands".
