Tai Po Kau Winter 2010

Morning of Jan 27

Birds seen today:

1. Asian Barred Owlet (my TPK first seen in daytime)
2. Fujian Niltava (male, well seen)
3. Japanese Thrush (female, my 2011 first)
4. Pale (corrected from Gray) Thrush (1st winter female with white on tertial tips and white-dotted wing covert bar)
5. Gray-backed Thrush (male)

Quite a satisfactory day given that I have to concentrate waiting and finding the Niltava.

Dear Mike

Thanks a lot for your encouraging comment. I may add that the nomadic hordes of photographers have recently invaded into Shing Mun. One either have to go birding early (meaning before 8 am in recent weather) or after 2 pm to have the birds not scared away or possibly appear again (like the forktail).

Cheers
