Behaviour of a Greater Necklaced Laughingthrush

Yesterday afternoon (24-12) when I was walking along the Blue Walk at TPK, I suddenly saw a shadow moving under the slope. When I tried to find out the species of the bird through my binocular, I was surprised to see a greater necklaced laughingthrush (I reckoned from its face pattern) stood up & drummed eagerly on the ground with its bill like a woodpecker for a couple of times. Then it disappeared in the shrub together with another one nearby. Can someone tell me if this is a typical behaviour of the bird? Sorry for the poor quality of the photo attached.
Thank you & merry X'mas!

It is the typical behaviour of laughingthrush. They search for insect in ground level.

Thanks blackdogto.

I think the laughingthrush was drumming to the fruit on the ground. I once saw this in Tai Po Kau.
