Invitation for Submission of San Tin Bird Records

The government announced the scope of San Tin Technopole, which will not only encroach into more than 150 hectares of Wetland Conservation Area, but also involve the filling of over 90 hectares of fishpond wetlands. The first phase of the construction is expected to start in 2024 Q4. The Hong Kong Bird Watching Society has been collecting and compiling bird records submitted by the birders. At least 209 bird species have been recorded in the affected Wetland Conservation Area in San Tin. These records are precious and important to help us to fight for the chance of policy changes for wetland conservation. Yet we know that we have little chance of halting wetland loss from the development, and the data may probably become the part of the history, we still would like to sincerely invite everyone of you to continuously submit bird records in the San Tin and Sam Po Shue area for the next generations. Click here for the Map of the affected Wetland Conservation Area in San Tin
