香港觀鳥會亞洲自然保育基金於22/23年度資助的「越南春水國家公園遷徙水鳥及濕地監察項目」亦於四月順利完成。春水國家公園是越南第一個拉姆薩爾濕地，亦被列爲重點鳥區，其潮間帶泥灘生境更是遷徙水鳥極為重要的覓食及棲息地。
爲了進一步研究此沿海濕地的生態及水鳥分佈，香港觀鳥會亞洲自然保育基金為春水國家公園提供資助，支持建立水鳥基線調查，以便日後進行長期鳥類監察，更期望從中提升當地職員的水鳥監察及保育技巧。六位公園職員跟隨專家從2022年十月至2023年三月期間，每月進行一次長達三至四天的實地調查，範圍覆蓋公園所有的重要生境。
水鳥調查期間合共錄得13種留鳥及43種遷徙鳥，當中有9種為全球受威脅或近危鳥種。與過往兩年的遷徙季節(2020-2021及2021-2022)的調查結果相比，儘管部分受關注鳥種如勺嘴鷸、小青腳鷸、半蹼鷸及彎嘴濱鷸等並未於公園今年的水鳥調查中被記錄。然而，是次調查所記錄到的4隻極度瀕危的青頭潛鴨以及37隻近危的羅文鴨都是公園引頸以盼的珍貴記錄。另外，調查員在進行黑臉琵鷺全球同步普查時，在園內記錄到八十隻黑臉琵鷺。此佔本年度全球黑臉琵鷺數量超過1%，並再創越南所錄得黑臉琵鷺的數字新高。

We are delighted to announce that the first project funded by the HKBWS ACF 2022-2023 has been successfully completed. The project, titled "Exploration of Wetlands in Xuan Thuy National Park to Increase Understanding of Migratory Waterbird Species," concluded in April. Xuan Thuy National Park is an important site for migratory waterbirds and has been recognized as both an IBA and the first Ramsar site in Vietnam. The park's intertidal mudflat offers crucial habitats for these species.
To enhance our knowledge of the ecology and distribution of threatened shorebirds at this vital coastal wetland, HKBWS ACF sponsored Xuan Thuy National Park to establish critical baselines for long-term monitoring. The project also aimed to improve the skills of on-site staff in shorebird monitoring and conservation. Led by expert ornithologist Phan Van Truong, six staff members from Xuan Thuy National Park conducted six field surveys, covering all key habitats over a 3 - 4 day period per month between October 2022 and the end of March 2023.
The survey recorded a total of 56 waterbird species, including 43 migratory and 13 resident species. Among them, nine species were globally threatened or near-threatened. Comparing the survey results with those of the previous two migration seasons (2020 - 2021 and 2021 - 2022), four species were not recorded this year: Spoon-billed Sandpiper, Nordmann's Greenshank, Asian Dowitcher, and Curlew Sandpiper. However, the surveying team recorded two species that had not been observed in the park for a long time, including four Baer's Pochards (CR) and 37 Falcated Ducks (NT). During the International Black-faced Spoonbill Census, 80 wintering Black-faced Spoonbills were recorded in Xuan Thuy National Park, forming over 1% of the wintering population and breaking the previous record for Vietnam.
